Place a 1-by-8-by-24-inch board on a work surface with the 8-by-24-inch side flat to form the bottom of the planter box.
Position one 1-by-6-by-24-inch board against each 24-inch edge of the bottom of the planter box to form the front and back sides of the planter.
Position the 2-by-6-by-7 1/2-inch boards between the front and back sides. These are the ends. The end boards should be flat against the planter bottom.
Drive flush trim wood screws through the front and back sides into the edge of the planter bottom using a screw gun. Space the screws every 2 inches. Drive screws through the sides into the ends. Space the screws every 2 inches.
Turn the planter box upside down. Drive two evenly spaced flush trim wood screws through the bottom into the bottom edge of the ends with a screw gun. Drill 1/4-inch holes through the planter bottom every 3 inches the entire length of the bottom in the center. Use a drill and 1/4-inch drill bit. The holes provide drainage.
Select a window to locate the planter. Position the L-brackets 20 inches apart. Fasten one bracket in place using the provided screws and a screw gun. Hold a level across and level the other bracket. Fasten the bracket in place.
Place the planter box on top of the brackets. Center it on the brackets. Drive the provided screws through the holes in the brackets into the bottom of the planter box with a screw gun.
Insert the planter box liner into the window planter box.
