How to Apply Penofin

Penofin manufactures wood finishes that both stain and protect decks, patios and log homes. Stain not only brings out the natural beauty in wood products but penetrates the porous fibers. When the wood fibers are filled with stain, your wooden project can no longer absorb any moisture from rain that will cause your deck or patio or turn to a weathered gray color. Weathered wood does not retain its strength and will eventually rot. Applying Penofin correctly to your wood projects increases the time that it will last.

Instructions

    • 1

Sweep the deck or porch off with a broom to remove any debris or leaves from the wooden surface.

    • 2

Screw a paint or stain pad onto a paint roller extension pole. Pour Penofin into a paint tray and place it near one end of the area for application. Dip the stain pad into the wood finish in the paint tray. Place the pad flat on the deck in one corner on one board.

    • 3

Push the extension pole over one board down its length to saturate the wood grain with Penofin. Walk backward to the opposite corner as you coat the first board. Stain the next board along its length in the same manner. Work toward the other end of the deck reapplying Penofin as needed to saturate the wood and moving the paint tray down the deck until all boards are coated.

    • 4

Let the stain absorb into the wood for 30 minutes.

    • 5

Wipe any excess product from the deck with a shop cloth starting at your starting point of stain application to the opposite side of the deck. The deck will be dry to the touch in about three hours and ready to put furniture on in 12 hours.
