How to Build a Skil Saw Table

The construction of a Skil Saw table does not involve hard steps, but it does require a bit of patience and installing the parts together step by step. As much as you may want to jump gung-ho into using this table saw right away, the parts need to be assembled correctly for personal safety and to make sure the saw system operates correctly. Following a few steps will ensure this occurs as intended by the manufacturer.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Unpack the Skil Saw table and parts so that you can visibly see all the components on the floor in front of you in an open workspace. Provide sufficient lighting so you can see what you are doing. Locate the leg pieces and cross-frame bars that will attach together (they usually come as sheet-metal leg parts painted black).

    • 2

Insert a screw provided with the kit into each of the legs and attach a cross-bar to it. Hold it in place with a screwdriver. Secure the cross-bar with a washer and nut that comes with the kit and tighten the assembly with a socket wrench and appropriate socket. Continue to do the same work so that you construct a four-leg square frame that the saw table will stand on.

    • 3

Tighten all the assemblies and visibly check to make sure none of the joints with screws are left loose. Turn the assembly upside down and insert the rubber leg feet pads that insert onto the ends of the legs which touch the ground. Tap them in with a rubber mallet to be sure they are on the legs. Use a chair to relax in if necessary as the process of assembly takes a while.

    • 4

Turn the assembly right side up again, place the saw table core unit on the leg frame. Use a socket wrench and crescent wrench to secure the table core to the leg frame via for bolts, washers and nuts provided in the kit. Check that each bolt is tightened securely.

Attach the saw blade guards provided in the table saw kit. Attach the adjustment handles by screwing them into the gears already connected to the table. Unravel the power cord connect to the saw engine inside the table. Attach the cutting guides that come with the kit. Plug the cord into a power source, turn on the table saw, and practice cutting with scrap wood to get a feel for how the saw works.
