How to Use Bentonite for Beer

How to Use Bentonite for Beer:

1. Make sure you have the right ingredients. You will need:

* Bentonite clay (food grade)

* Water

* A large container (such as a bucket or carboy)

* A spoon

* A hydrometer

* A thermometer

2. Clean and sanitize your equipment. This is important to prevent any contamination in your beer.

3. Dissolve the bentonite in water. In a large container, mix 1 pound of bentonite clay with 5 gallons of water. Stir until the clay is fully dissolved.

4. Add the bentonite mixture to your beer. Use a spoon to add the bentonite mixture to your beer. Stir gently to combine.

5. Wait at least 24 hours. Allow the beer to sit for at least 24 hours, but no longer than 72 hours. The bentonite will settle to the bottom of the container during this time.

6. Test the clarity of your beer. Use a hydrometer to test the specific gravity. If the reading is the same as it was before adding the bentonite, your beer is ready to bottle or keg.

7. Bottle or keg your beer. If you are bottling your beer, be sure to leave some headspace in each bottle. If you are kegging your beer, be sure to purge the keg with CO2 before filling it.

8. Enjoy your clear beer! Bentonite is a natural clay that has been used for centuries to clarify wine and beer. It is safe to use and will not affect the taste of your beer. Cheers!
