Measure the height and width of the wall where you will be installing the paneling. Add 1 inch to each measurement for overlap.
2. Cut the paneling
Cut the paneling to size using a saw. Be sure to cut the panels so that they are all the same size.
3. Install the furring strips
Furring strips are used to create a level surface for the paneling to be installed on. Install the furring strips vertically, spacing them 16 inches apart. Use a level to make sure the furring strips are installed level.
4. Apply adhesive to the furring strips
Apply a construction adhesive to the furring strips. Be sure to apply the adhesive evenly.
5. Install the paneling
Start installing the paneling from the bottom corner of the wall. Overlap each panel by 1 inch. Use a hammer and nails to secure the paneling to the furring strips.
6. Caulk the seams
Caulk the seams between the panels using a paintable caulk. Be sure to caulk all of the seams, even the ones that are not visible.
7. Paint the paneling
If desired, you can paint the paneling. Be sure to use a paint that is specifically designed for use on bathroom wall paneling.
