How to Change the Airflow Direction in an HVAC Duct

To change the airflow direction in an HVAC duct, you will need to adjust the direction of the damper. Dampers are devices that control the flow of air through a duct. They are typically located in the main supply duct near the air handler.

1. Locate the damper. The damper is usually a metal or plastic plate that is mounted in the ductwork. It may be located on the side or top of the duct. Look for a lever, handle, or knob that can be used to move the damper.

2. Adjust the damper. Once you have found the damper, you can adjust it to change the airflow direction. To do this, simply move the lever, handle, or knob in the desired direction.

3. Test the airflow. After you have adjusted the damper, test the airflow to make sure that it is flowing in the desired direction. You can do this by holding a piece of paper or tissue near the duct. The paper or tissue should move in the direction of the airflow.

If the airflow is not flowing in the desired direction, you may need to adjust the damper further. You may also need to check for any obstructions in the ductwork that could be blocking the airflow.
