- New sink faucet handles
- Adjustable wrench
- Philips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Plumber's putty
- Teflon tape
Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply
- Locate the water supply valves under the sink.
- Turn the valves clockwise until the water is completely turned off.
Step 3: Disconnect the Water Supply Lines
- Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that connect the water supply lines to the faucet handles.
- Be careful not to lose the washers that are located behind the nuts.
Step 4: Remove the Old Faucet Handles
- Use a Philips-head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the faucet handles in place.
- Pull the handles straight up to remove them.
- Be careful not to drop the handles on the sink.
Step 5: Apply Plumber's Putty
- Roll a piece of plumber's putty into a rope about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place the rope of plumber's putty around the base of the new faucet handles.
Step 6: Install the New Faucet Handles
- Insert the new faucet handles into the holes in the sink.
- Secure the handles in place with the screws that you removed in Step 4.
Step 7: Reconnect the Water Supply Lines
- Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts that connect the water supply lines to the faucet handles.
- Be careful not to overtighten the nuts.
Step 8: Turn on the Water Supply
- Turn the water supply valves counterclockwise until the water is fully turned on.
- Check for leaks around the faucet handles. If you see any leaks, tighten the nuts that connect the water supply lines until the leaks stop.
Step 9: Apply Teflon Tape
- Wrap a few layers of Teflon tape around the threads of the faucet handles.
- This will help to prevent leaks.
Step 10: Replace the Faucet Handles
- Screw the faucet handles back into place.
- Tighten the screws until the faucet handles are secure.
Your new faucet handles are now installed!
