How to Fly With a Carry-On Painting

Here is a guide to flying with carry-on painting.

1. Check airline regulations. Different airlines have different size and weight restrictions for carry-on luggage, so be sure to check the airline's website before packing your painting.

2. Choose the right bag. You'll need a sturdy, hard-sided bag that will protect your painting from damage. Make sure the bag is big enough to fit your painting, but not so large that it exceeds the airline's size limits.

3. Pack your painting carefully. Wrap the painting in bubble wrap or packing paper to protect it from scratches, bumps, or moisture, Use masking tape to secure the bubble wrap or packing paper to the painting. Then place the painting in the protective sleeve or hard case between two pieces of foam board, cardboard or plywood with bubble wrap or packing peanuts to prevent movement within the bag.

4. Label your bag. Attach a tag to your bag with your contact information, including your name, phone number, and email address. This will help the airline return the painting to you if it is lost or misplaced.

5. Carry your bag on the plane. Do not check your painting with your luggage, as it is more likely to be damaged if it is handled roughly by baggage handlers. Keep the painting with you at all times during the flight.

6. Declare your painting to customs. If you're flying internationally, you may be required to declare your painting to customs. Check with the customs regulations of the countries you're traveling from and to.

7. Enjoy your painting at your destination! Once you've arrived at your destination, unpack your painting and remove the protective sleeves, wrap or case from the painting. Hang your painting on a wall or display it on a shelf to enjoy for years to come.
