Specifications of the Stihl 025 Chain Saw

Since it sold the very first chainsaw in 1931, Stihl has become recognized as a leader in the manufacture of all types of outdoor power equipment, including leaf blowers, trimmers and industrial demolition saws. Every chainsaw manufactured by Stihl includes an instruction manual which lists the specifications of the unit.
  1. Engine

    • The 025 is powered by a one-cylinder, two-stroke gasoline engine. The piston bore (diameter) is 1.7-inches (42.0 mm), and the piston stroke is 1.26-inches (32.0 mm). The engine has an overall displacement of 2.77 cubic inches (45.4 cubic centimeters).

    Ignition

    • The chainsaw operates using breakerless electronic magneto ignition. The unit is factory equipped with either a Bosch WSR 6 F or NGK BPMR 7 A spark plug gapped to 0.02-inches (0.5 mm).

    Oil and Fuel Capacities

    • Stihl designed the 025 to operate using gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. The capacity of the fuel tank is 16 oz. (0.47 L). The chain oil reservoir has a capacity of 6.4 oz. (0.20 L). The gasoline-to-2-cycle oil mixing ratio is 50:1 (2 percent). A speed-controlled fully automatic plunger-type oil pump provides guide bar lubrication.

    • The 025 is equipped with an all-position diaphragm carburetor fitted with an integrated fuel pump. Air filtration is provided by a washable flocked fabric filter element. Without the guide bar and chain, the dry weight (without fuel or chain oil) of the Stihl 025 is 10.1 lbs. (4.6 kg).
