How to Heat Gluhwein

Gluhwein is a traditional European mulled wine that is popular during the winter months. It is made by heating red wine with spices, such as cinnamon, cloves, and orange zest. Gluhwein can be heated on the stovetop or in a slow cooker.

To heat gluhwein on the stovetop:

1. In a large saucepan, combine red wine, spices, and sugar.

2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the wine is hot and the spices have infused the wine.

4. Serve immediately.

To heat gluhwein in a slow cooker:

1. In a slow cooker, combine red wine, spices, and sugar.

2. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the wine is hot and the spices have infused the wine.

3. Serve immediately.

Tips:

* Use a good quality red wine for gluhwein. A fruity wine, such as a merlot or cabernet sauvignon, will work well.

* Add additional spices to your gluhwein, such as cardamom, nutmeg, or ginger.

* Serve gluhwein with a garnish of orange slices or cinnamon sticks.

* Gluhwein can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently over low heat before serving.
