- Pliers
- 12 gauge wire (in black, white, and green)
- Wire cutters
- Voltage tester
- Outlet box
- Outlet cover
- Wire nuts
- Screwdriver
1. Turn off the power to the circuit that you will be working on. This can be done by flipping the breaker switch to the "Off" position.
2. Remove the outlet cover plate.
3. Remove the old outlet from the outlet box.
4. Connect the black wire from the circuit breaker to the brass terminal on the outlet.
5. Connect the white wire from the circuit breaker to the silver terminal on the outlet.
6. Connect the green wire from the circuit breaker to the green terminal on the outlet.
7. Tuck the wires neatly into the outlet box.
8. Replace the outlet cover plate and turn the power back on.
* Always turn off the power before working on any electrical outlet.
