Instructions:
1. Turn Off Power: Before starting any electrical work, make sure the power is turned off. To do this, flip the main circuit breaker to the “OFF” position.
2. Remove Old Circuit Breaker Box: Remove the cover of the old circuit breaker box by unscrewing the cover with the slotted screwdriver. Remove the old circuit breakers by disconnecting the wires and unscrewing the mounting screws. Remove any old wiring and the box itself from the wall.
3. Install New Circuit Breaker Box: Mount the new circuit breaker box on the wall using the screws that came with the box.
4. Run Wires To New Box: If you are installing a new circuit, run the 12-gauge Romex wire from the main electrical panel to the new circuit breaker box. Run the grounding wire to the ground screw in the new circuit breaker box.
5. Connect Romex Wiring to Circuit Breaker: Strip the end of the 12-gauge Romex wire about 1/2 inch. Connect the black (hot) wire to the terminal screw on the circuit breaker marked "Line" or "Load". Connect the white (neutral) wire to the terminal screw marked "Neutral."
6. Install Circuit Breakers: Push the new circuit breakers into place and tighten the mounting screws.
7. Turn on the Power: Flip the main circuit breaker to the “ON” position. Test the new circuit breaker box by plugging in an appliance and checking that it works.
Note: If you are not comfortable working with electricity, it is best to hire a qualified electrician to install a new circuit breaker box.
