Old sweater: Choose a wool or cashmere sweater that is in good condition, with no holes or tears.
Scissors: Sharp scissors that can cut through the sweater material.
Needle and thread: A sewing needle and thread that matches the color of the sweater.
Polyester filling: You can buy this at most craft stores. Be sure to buy a medium loft filler for a nice, plump dog toy.
Optional: A small piece of felt for the dog's eyes and nose.
1. Cut the sweater:
* Lay the sweater flat on a table, and cut off the sleeves.
* Cut off the collar and the neckband.
* Cut the bottom hem of the sweater.
2. Stitch the dog's body.:
* Take one of the sweater pieces and stitch it wrong sides together to create a long, narrow rectangle.
* Make sure to leave an opening at the top for stuffing at the top for stuffing.
3. Turn it right side out.
4. Stuff it.
* Stuff the body with polyester filling until it is nice and plump.
* Close the opening with a ladder stitch.
5. Embroider a nose and eyes on its face.
* Optional: You can use small pieces of felt to embroider a nose and eyes on the face of the dog.
* Stitch them on with a few simple stitches.
