Squirrels live in almost every habitat and feed largely on seeds and nuts. Homeowners may place feeders in their yard containing seeds and nuts for birds. Squirrels that see these feeders will often also feed on the same food leaving nothing left for the birds. Chicken wire is made from a thin, flexible wire with hexagonal gaps. This type of wire is often used to fence poultry livestock and may also be used to prevent squirrels from accessing a feeder.
