How to Hide Appliance Screens

Appliances have come a long way from the days of simple knobs and buttons. Many modern appliances, from washing machines to ovens, contain touchscreens that control the devices' operations. These screens may emit a bright glow. If you’re living in a small studio apartment, for instance, this glow could interfere with sleep at night. Create a simple magnetic piece to hide the appliance screen, which is easy to remove when you need to use it.

• Magnet sheet
• Marker

     Measure the dimensions of the appliance screen and add ½ inch to 1 inch of space to the height and width.

     Draw the outline of these measurements onto a magnet sheet, using a marker. This will form the cover for the appliance screen. Cut out the outline with scissors.

     Line up the cut-out piece of the magnet sheet with the appliance screen and stick it to the surrounding metal to completely hide the screen.
