* Red felt (1/2 yard)
* White felt (1/4 yard)
* Black felt (1/8 yard)
* Fabric scissors
* Sewing machine
* Thread
* Stuffing (polyester fill or batting)
* Hot glue gun
* Glue sticks
1. Cut the red felt into a 15" x 24" rectangle.
2. Cut the white felt into two 6" x 9" rectangles.
3. Cut the black felt into a 2" x 6" rectangle.
4. Sew the white rectangles onto the red rectangle, 3 inches from the top and bottom edges.
5. Sew the black rectangle onto the white rectangles, centered vertically.
6. Fold the red rectangle in half lengthwise, right sides together.
7. Sew the side edges together, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
8. Leave a 4-inch opening in the center of the seam for turning.
9. Trim the corners and turn the welcome mat right side out.
10. Stuff the welcome mat with polyester fill or batting.
11. Hot glue the opening closed.
12. Use a glue stick to add any additional decorations, such as buttons, sequins, or jingle bells.
* To make the welcome mat more durable, use a heavy-duty fabric such as canvas or duck cloth.
* If you don't have a sewing machine, you can also sew the welcome mat by hand.
