How to Make a Santa Hat Out of Paper

### Materials:

- 1 sheet of red construction paper

- 1 sheet of white construction paper

- Scissors

- Glue stick

- Black marker

Instructions:

Step 1: Creating the Main Body of the Hat

1. Cut out a rectangle from the red construction paper with dimensions of approximately 12 inches (30.48 cm) long by 9 inches (22.86 cm) wide.

2. Fold the red rectangle in half lengthwise (hot dog style).

3. Open up the fold you just made.

4. Fold the top corners down to the bottom edge, creating a triangle shape.

5. Crease the folds well.

Step 2: Adding the White Trim

1. Cut a strip of white construction paper that is approximately 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide and the same length as the base of your triangle (the bottom folded edge).

2. Apply glue to the back of the white strip and stick it along the bottom edge of the red triangle.

3. Cut out small circles from the white construction paper to represent buttons. Stick the buttons onto the white trim.

Step 3: Forming the Poof of the Hat

1. Fold the lower part of the red triangle up by about 2 inches (5.08 cm). This creates the poof of the Santa hat.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

1. Use the black marker to draw a fluffy brim around the bottom of the hat.

2. If desired, add additional decorations like holly leaves or glitter.

Step 5: Personalize and Wear Your Santa Hat

Write your name or a festive message on the front of the hat and let it dry. Once it's ready, put on your Santa hat and enjoy the holiday spirit!
