Materials Needed:
- Cardstock or thick paper
- Scissors or craft knife
- Glue stick
- Ruler and pencil
- Scoring board (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare Your Paper:
- Trim your cardstock or thick paper to a square. For example, cut it to 6x6 inches.
2. Score and Fold the Paper:
- Fold the paper in half both vertically and horizontally, forming an X shape. Unfold the paper.
- Use a ruler and pencil to mark fold lines along the creases just formed.
- You'll have four equal rectangles.
3. Cut the Flaps:
- Cut along the fold lines to the center point to form the box's flaps.
4. Fold Up the Side Flaps:
- Fold up two opposing side flaps to meet in the middle, forming a rectangular box shape.
5. Apply Glue:
- Add glue to the back of the two side flaps that are folded up.
6. Fold Down the Remaining Flaps:
- Fold down the remaining two flaps. The glued flaps should hold them in place.
7. Fold In the Corners:
- To create the box's corners, fold down the triangular edges of the flaps inward, pressing them flat against the box's sides.
8. Finish and Decorate:
- Your small paper box is now complete!
- You can decorate it with stamps, stickers, washi tape, or any other desired embellishments.
Additional Tips:
- Use a scoring board to make crisp, precise folds.
- When gluing, apply it in small quantities to avoid mess and wrinkles.
- Experiment with different paper types and colors for unique box designs.
- Add a lining with patterned or colored paper to enhance the interior of the box.
- Secure the flaps with double-sided tape for extra strength.
- Use a paper punch to create decorative holes in the box's sides for a personalized touch.
