How to Customize a Beach Towel with Bleach

Materials:

- White cotton beach towel

- Fabric bleach

- Plastic spray bottle

- Pencil or fabric marker

- Plastic gloves

- Large outdoor space

- Measuring cup

Instructions:

1. Fold the beach towel. Fold it in half lengthwise twice.

2. Draw your design. Once the towel is folded, sketch your desired design lightly onto the fabric with a pencil or fabric marker. Make sure to keep your design simple for best results.

3. Put on gloves. Wear plastic gloves to protect your hands from the bleach.

4. Mix the bleach. In a plastic spray bottle, mix 1 part fabric bleach with 4 parts water. Ensure the spray bottle is closed tightly before shaking it to mix the solution thoroughly.

5. Test the bleach. Apply the diluted bleach solution to a small, inconspicuous area of the beach towel. This will help you assess how the bleach will react with the fabric and make adjustments as necessary before continuing with the design.

6. Apply the bleach. Starting with the outline of your design, carefully spray the bleach solution onto the fabric, following the drawn pattern. Be sure to apply the bleach evenly to prevent patchy results.

7. Let the bleach work. Allow the bleach solution to sit on the towel for about 10 minutes, or until the design becomes visible.

8. Rinse thoroughly. After the bleach has had time to work, rinse the towel thoroughly with cold water until all of the bleach is removed.

9. Dry the towel. Hang the bleached beach towel to dry or place it in a dryer on low heat.

10. Enjoy your customized beach towel! Once the towel is dry, you'll have a unique and personalized beach towel to use and enjoy.

Tips:

- Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling bleach fumes.

- If you make a mistake, immediately rinse the area with water to remove the bleach and start over.

- Be creative! You can use stencils or freehand designs to create different patterns and effects on the beach towel.

- Customize the towel with names, initials, or favorite quotes for a personal touch.

- You can also add some color to your design by using fabric markers or dyes after the towel has been bleached and dried.
