Materials:
- Old sweater
- Fabric scissors
- Sewing needle and thread
- Measuring tape
- Fabric marker or chalk
Instructions:
1. Preparing the Sweater:
- Turn your sweater inside out.
2. Cutting the Cowl:
- Measure the width of your head.
- Cut a rectangular piece of fabric from the sweater's front or back, wide enough to fit your head comfortably.
- The length should be about 1.5 times the width. For example, if your head measures 22 inches, cut a rectangle 22 inches wide and 33 inches long.
- Cut two pieces like this.
3. Sewing the Cowl:
- Fold each piece of fabric in half lengthwise with the right sides together.
- Sew the short ends of each piece together, creating two long tubes of fabric.
4. Assembling the Cowl:
- Turn one tube inside out so the right sides are facing.
- Insert the other tube into the first tube, aligning the edges.
- Sew the open edges together, creating a continuous loop.
5. Cutting the Boot Socks:
- Measure the circumference of your calf at its widest point.
- Cut two rectangles of fabric from the sweater's sleeves or body.
- The width should be slightly larger than the circumference of your calf.
- The length should be about 2 to 2.5 times the calf measurement.
6. Sewing the Boot Socks:
- Fold each rectangle of fabric in half lengthwise with the right sides together.
- Sew the short ends of each piece together, forming two boot sock tubes.
7. Finishing Touches:
- Trim any excess fabric or loose threads.
- Turn both the cardigan cowl and boot socks right sides out.
- Give them a gentle iron if needed.
