* An old sweater
* A pair of scissors
* A sewing machine or needle and thread
* A measuring tape
* A piece of elastic or a ribbon
* A safety pin
1. Lay the sweater flat on a table with the front side facing up.
2. Cut the sweater into two pieces: the torso and the sleeves.
3. Set aside the torso.
1. Fold the bottom edge of the skirt up about 1 inch (2.5 cm).
2. Press the fold flat.
3. Stitch the fold in place using a sewing machine or needle and thread.
1. Measure your waist and add 1 inch (2.5 cm) for ease.
2. Cut a piece of elastic or a ribbon to this length.
3. Insert the safety pin into one end of the elastic or ribbon.
4. Thread the safety pin through the casing of the skirt, starting at the back and ending at the front.
5. Sew the ends of the elastic or ribbon together.
1. Try on the skirt and adjust the waistband if necessary.
2. Trim any excess elastic or ribbon.
3. Enjoy your new little skirt!
* To make a more gathered skirt, use more elastic or ribbon when creating the waistband.
* You can also add embellishments to the skirt, such as beads, sequins, or appliques.
* This is a great way to upcycle an old sweater and create a new piece of clothing.
