How to Hang Hearts From the Ceiling

Hanging hearts from the ceiling can be tricky. Ceilings can be slanted, causing hanging difficulties. Hang the hearts too low, and they may brush against people's heads and make the ceiling height look lower than it really is. Nails and hooks can also poke holes in the ceiling that can be difficult to fix. However, you can hang hearts from a ceiling in such a way that they won't bump into heads or cause ceiling damage.

Instructions

  1. Acoustic Tile Ceiling

    • 1

Punch a hole in each of your hearts somewhere on its perimeter with a single hole punch that can go through paper or fabric.

    • 2

Cut varying lengths of fishing line, and thread one length of fishing line through the hole on each heart. Do not tie the ends of the fishing line together yet.

    • 3

Climb a stepladder and push up on the acoustic tile where you want to hang a heart. Tie the two ends of the fishing line threaded through the heart around the metal channels that hold the tiles in place. Push up on the tile to drop it back into place.

    Texturized Plaster Ceiling

Punch a hole in each of your hearts somewhere on its perimeter with a single hole punch that can go through paper or fabric.

    • 5

Cut varying lengths of ribbon, and thread a length of ribbon through the hole on each heart. Tie the ends of the ribbon together in a knot to form a sturdy loop.

    • 6

Climb a stepladder. Remove the adhesive backing on a poster strip. Stick one end of the poster strip to the ceiling. Slide the ends of the knotted ribbon beneath the middle of the poster strip. Press both ends of the poster strip firmly into place on the ceiling.

    Slanted Ceilings

Climb a stepladder. Clean each area on the slanted ceiling with a sponge soaked in rubbing alcohol. Let each area dry for a few minutes.

    • 10

Wet the suction cup on a suction cup hook with a damp sponge. Lift up on the hook. Press the suction cup against the ceiling. Lower the hook to lock it into place.

Loop the fishing line or ribbon on the heart over the hook, and let it dangle from the slanted ceiling.
