1.) Gather your materials. You will need:
- Necklace that needs to be shortened
- Jewelry pliers
- Chain cutters
- Crimping tool
- Crimp tubes
- Jump rings
2.) Measure the necklace. Put the necklace on and decide how much you want to shorten it. Be sure to measure the necklace while you are wearing it so that you can get an accurate measurement.
3.) Cut the chain. Use the chain cutters to cut the chain at the desired length. Be sure to cut the chain in a straight line.
4.) Attach crimp tubes. Slide a crimp tube onto one end of the cut chain. Then, use the crimping tool to crimp the crimp tube in place. Repeat this process on the other end of the cut chain.
5.) Attach a jump ring. Open a jump ring and slide it through one of the crimp tubes. Then, close the jump ring. Repeat this process on the other crimp tube.
6.) Your necklace is now shortened!

2.) Attach the clasp extension. Open the clasp of the necklace and attach the clasp extension to the clasp. Be sure to close the clasp securely.
3.) Your necklace is now shortened!
- If you are not comfortable working with jewelry pliers, you can take your necklace to a jeweler to have it shortened.
- You can also purchase necklaces that are already the desired length.
