How to Reshape a Pillar Candle

Reshaping a pillar candle is a satisfying DIY project that can give new life to leftover candles or turn ordinary candles into unique and personalized decor. Here's a simple guide to help you reshape a pillar candle:

Materials Needed:

- Pillar candle (any size or color)

- Sharp knife or candle-shaping tool

- Cutting board or protected workspace

- Heat-resistant container

- Spoon

- Paper towel or rag

- Oven mitts

Step 1: Prepare the candle

- Place your pillar candle on a cutting board or protected workspace.

- Ensure the candle is at room temperature, making it easier to reshape.

Step 2: Trim the candle

- Use a sharp knife or candle-shaping tool to carefully trim excess wick to prevent any smoke while burning.

Step 3: Melt the wax

- Place the heat-resistant container on the stovetop over low heat.

- Once the wax begins to melt, gradually add the trimmed pieces to the container.

- Stir the melting wax gently to help it melt evenly.

Step 4: Reshape the candle

- Take the container off the heat when the wax is completely melted.

- Carefully pour the melted wax back onto the pillar candle, allowing it to take on a new shape.

Step 5: Trim any excess wax

- Allow the wax to harden for a few minutes.

- Once it's partially solidified but still pliable, use your knife to trim any excess wax that has overflowed or has an undesirable shape.

Step 6: Let it cool completely

- Allow the candle to cool and harden completely. This may take several hours or overnight.

- Be patient and do not disturb it to avoid deforming the new shape.

Step 7: Optional step - Add embellishments

- Once the candle has hardened, you can add your personal touch.

- Consider gluing decorative elements such as beads, glitter, or ribbon around the candle.

Step 8: Enjoy your reshaped candle!

- Trim the wick again if needed, ensuring it's ¼ inch (0.6cm) long.

- Light up and enjoy the ambiance created by your reshaped pillar candle.
