How to Make Goat Milk Soap

### How to Make Goat Milk Soap

Supplies

* 2 pounds goat milk

* 12 ounces olive oil

* 12 ounces coconut oil

* 8 ounces palm oil

* 6 ounces shea butter

* 4 ounces lye

* 2 tablespoons water

* Essential oil (optional)

* Soap mold

* Stick blender

* Thermometer

* Gloves

* Safety glasses

Instructions

1. Melt the coconut oil, olive oil, and palm oil in a double boiler or slow cooker.

2. Stir in the shea butter until melted.

3. Remove the pot from the heat and allow the oils to cool to room temperature.

4. In a separate bowl, combine the lye and water. Stir until the lye has dissolved.

5. Slowly add the lye mixture to the melted oils, stirring constantly. Be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses when handling lye.

6. Stir the mixture until it reaches trace - a point when the soap mixture has thickened enough to leave a trail on the surface when drizzled from a spoon.

7. Add essential oil (if using) and stir well.

8. Pour the mixture into the soap mold.

9. Cover the mold and let the soap set for 24-48 hours.

10. After the soap has hardened, cut it into bars.

11. Let the bars cure for 4 weeks before using.

Tips

* If you don't have a stick blender, you can whisk the mixture vigorously until it reaches trace.

* Be careful not to overheat the oils, as this can cause the soap to turn brown and smell bad.

* If you want to add color to your soap, you can use natural food coloring or soap dye.

* Feel free to experiment with different essential oils to create your desired fragrance.
