Materials Needed:
1. Two water pressure tanks (of the same size and type)
2. Two flexible water hoses (usually braided stainless steel)
3. Two brass or PVC tee fittings
4. Two ball valves
5. Plumber's tape (Teflon tape)
6. Pipe wrenches
7. Adjustable wrench
8. Hacksaw or tubing cutter
Step-by-Step Installation:
1. Prepare the Water Tanks:
- Ensure both water pressure tanks are empty and clean.
- Attach a ball valve to the inlet port of each water tank.
- Attach a tee fitting to the outlet port of each water tank.
2. Connect the Tanks:
- Cut two lengths of flexible water hoses to connect the tee fittings on the tanks.
- Wrap plumber's tape around the threads of the hoses and tee fittings to ensure a watertight seal.
- Connect the hoses between the tee fittings on the tanks, ensuring they are tightly secured.
3. Connect to Water Source:
- Connect one end of a flexible water hose to the water source (usually the main water line) and the other end to one of the tee fittings on the water tanks.
- Ensure this connection is tight and properly sealed.
4. Connect to Pressure Switch:
- Locate the pressure switch that controls your water pump.
- Disconnect the existing water line from the pressure switch.
- Connect one end of a flexible water hose to the pressure switch and the other end to one of the open ports on the tee fittings on the water tanks.
5. Complete the Plumbing:
- Install the final tee fitting on the pressure switch connection to create three outlets.
- Attach a pressure gauge to one of the outlets to monitor water pressure.
- Connect a water line from the remaining open outlet on the pressure switch to the water distribution system of your home.
6. Testing the System:
- Turn on the main water supply and the water pump.
- Check for any leaks or loose connections in the plumbing.
- Adjust the pressure switch according to the manufacturer's guidelines to maintain the desired water pressure.
7. Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Regularly monitor the water pressure tanks and the pressure gauge.
- Drain and clean the water tanks periodically to prevent sediment buildup and ensure proper functionality.
Note:
Always follow the instructions provided by the manufacturers of the water tanks and other components used during installation. If you are not comfortable working with plumbing systems, consider hiring a licensed plumber to ensure a safe and proper installation.
