Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the cardboard boxes.
- Cut the cardboard boxes into various shapes and sizes to create the basic shape of the rock.
- Use duct tape to secure the pieces of cardboard together.
- Reinforce the structure by adding additional layers of cardboard and duct tape.
Step 2: Apply paper mache.
- Prepare the paper mache by mixing flour and water to create a paste.
- Tear the newspaper strips into small pieces.
- Dip the newspaper strips into the paper mache paste and apply them to the cardboard structure.
- Cover the entire rock with several layers of paper mache, allowing each layer to dry completely before adding the next.
Step 3: Sand the rock.
- Once the paper mache is dry, use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges or bumps on the rock.
Step 4: Paint the rock.
- Use acrylic paint to paint the rock gray.
- Allow the gray paint to dry completely.
- Use a dry brush technique to add brown highlights to the rock, creating a more realistic texture.
Step 5: Apply spray sealant.
- Spray the rock with a clear sealant to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish.
Step 6: Add finishing touches.
- Use additional materials such as moss, lichen, or artificial plants to add more details to the rock and make it look even more realistic.
