- 2 yards of brown felt
- 1 yard of white felt
- 1/2 yard of black felt
- 1 package of cotton balls
- 1 piece of elastic (about 12 inches long)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Brown and black sharpies
- Fabric marker
1. Cut the brown felt into two rectangles, each measuring 24 inches by 12 inches.
2. Cut the white felt into one rectangle, measuring 24 inches by 6 inches.
3. Cut the black felt into two rectangles, each measuring 6 inches by 4 inches.
4. Fold the white rectangle in half lengthwise. Cut a 1-inch slit in the center of the fold, starting 2 inches from the bottom.
5. Fold the black rectangles in half lengthwise. Cut a 1-inch slit in the center of each fold, starting 2 inches from the bottom.
6. Hot glue the white rectangle to the center of one of the brown rectangles, with the slit facing down.
7. Hot glue the black rectangles to the top of the white rectangle, with the slits facing down.
8. Hot glue the second brown rectangle to the back of the first, enclosing the white rectangle and black triangles.
9. Cut two tails from the cotton balls, each about 12 inches long.
10. Hot glue the tails to the back of the costume, at the base of the spine.
11. Cut a small hole in the center of the costume, just above the tail. Thread the elastic through the hole and tie it in a knot.
12. Use the brown and black sharpies to add details to the costume, such as eyes, nose, and mouth.
13. Use the fabric marker to write "Squirrel" on the back of the costume.
- If you don't have a hot glue gun, you can use craft glue instead.
- You can also add other embellishments to the costume, such as beads, sequins, or feathers.
