Materials and Tools:
- Manufactured stone wire mesh
- Stucco nails or galvanized nails
- Hammer or nail gun
- Utility knife or scissors
- Measuring tape
- Level
Step-by-Step Installation:
1. Prepare the Surface:
- Ensure the surface you're installing the mesh on is clean, dry, and free of debris. If necessary, use a wire brush to remove any dirt or loose particles.
2. Measure and Cut:
- Measure and cut the wire mesh to fit the area where you want to install manufactured stone. Leave about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of overlap at the edges.
3. Attach Wire Mesh to Wood:
- If installing on wood, position the wire mesh on the surface and use stucco nails or galvanized nails to secure it. Space the nails approximately every 6-8 inches (15-20 cm).
- Hammer the nails in until they are flush with the wire mesh.
4. Attach Wire Mesh to Concrete or Masonry:
- If installing on concrete or masonry surfaces, you can use a hammer drill to create holes and then insert masonry nails or screws to secure the wire mesh.
- Space the fasteners every 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) and ensure they are set deep enough to be flush with the surface.
5. Overlap Edges:
- Where two pieces of wire mesh meet, overlap the edges by approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) and secure them using nails or screws.
6. Cut Openings:
- If you need to create openings for windows, doors, or electrical outlets, use a utility knife or scissors to carefully cut the wire mesh to the desired shape.
7. Check for Secure Installation:
- Make sure the wire mesh is securely attached to the surface and that there are no loose or protruding nails.
8. Apply Veneer:
- Once the wire mesh is installed, you can proceed to apply the manufactured stone veneer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific stone product you are using.
Remember to wear protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses, when working with nails and cutting tools. Also, check the manufacturer's recommendations and specific instructions for the type of wire mesh and veneer you are using.
