Weight of Push Mowers

If you have a small lawn to cut, a push lawnmower can be an affordable tool to get the job done. Reel mowers run on only human power, offering an environmentally friendly approach to lawn work. They can be hard to maneuver around obstacles, however, and may not cut grass as low as electric- and gas-powered push mowers. Electric models don’t produce exhaust fumes, but they can’t cut a swath as wide as a traditional gas-powered push mower. In addition to technology and cutting techniques, different kinds of push mowers have different weights.
  1. Reel Mowers

    • A reel or manual push mower with a 16-inch cutting width weighs 19 to 25 pounds. A model that cuts 13 inches of grass at a time weighs about 15 pounds. A reel mower with a 15-inch cutting width weighs about 16.3 pounds.

    Electric Corded Mowers

    • An electric mower that uses an electrical cord and has an 18-inch cutting width weighs 35 to 42 pounds. A corded mower with a 19-inch deck weighs 50 to 52 pounds.

    Electric Cordless Mowers

    • Cordless electric mowers that cut an 18-inch swath weigh about 62 pounds. A 19-inch cordless model weighs 72 to 80 pounds.

    Gas-Powered Mowers

    • Expect a gas-powered lawnmower with a 21-inch cutting width to weigh 64 to 81 pounds. Filling the mower with gasoline may add about 3 pounds to its total weight.
