How to Release the Brake on a John Deere 490E

The John Deere 490E is late model excavator that is no longer in production by the company. It is a commercial grade piece of heavy equipment with a 4-cylinder turbo-charged engine and an articulated arm and claw bucket reach of up to 28 feet. The parking brake and other controls are operated hydraulically via switches in the operator's cabin atop the excavator engine and hydraulics compartments and tracks.

      Sit down in the operator's seat position behind the excavator controls.

      Fasten the safety belt around you to release seat switch.

      Start the engine by inserting and turning the key or pressing the key start switch.

      Press the park brake switch to the down, or disengaged, position.
