How to Replace a 100340 AeroGarden Grow Bulb

AeroGarden indoor plant growing systems markets several lamps that use model 100340 grow bulbs, including the 3, 3 Elite, 6 and Space·Saver 6. Bulb replacement is necessary whenever a bulb stop working. In addition, AeroGrow International recommends replacing bulbs every six months so the light output remains consistent. The bulbs have a plug-in design, so replacement isn't difficult. You only need to know where to purchase 100340 bulbs and the correct timer reset instructions for your specific AeroGarden lamp.

      Purchase replacement bulbs direct from AeroGrow International or from a local or online retailer that sells AeroGarden products. If you want to buy the bulbs directly from AeroGrow, go to the company's website (see Resources) or call AeroGrow at 800-476-9669. To buy locally, go to the store where you purchased your unit, or to a garden store.

      Unplug your AeroGarden from the outlet and set aside the garden's bowl.

      Wait for the model 100340 grow bulb or bulbs to cool. Pull the bulb you need to replace straight out of its socket in the lamp hood and set it aside. If you have more than one bulb, pull both.

      Insert a new bulb into the empty socket. Repeat with a second bulb if applicable. When you're finished, return the bowl to your unit, then plug the unit into the electric outlet.

      Reset the grow bulb timer on your unit after a six-month replacement. For example, on the AeroGarden 3 or 3 Elite, push the "Reset" button to activate the "Replace Bulbs" light for at least three seconds, release the button, then push it again to reset the bulb timer and turn off the light. On the AeroGarden 6 or Space·Saver 6, push the "Reset" button once. If you're replacing grow bulbs before the six-month recommended replacement date, skip this step.

      Reset the timer on your unit before a six-month replacement date. For example, on the AeroGarden 3 or 3 Elite, push and hold the "Reset" button for at least 9 seconds, release the button, then push the button again once. On the AeroGarden 6 or Space·Saver 6, push and hold the "Lights" button at least five seconds until the light next to your chosen plant type blinks, release the button, then quickly push "Reset" once.
