Materials and tools:
- Two empty toilet paper rolls
- A piece of cardboard or thick paper
- Two magnifying glasses (at least 2x magnification)
- Hot glue gun
- Duct tape
- Scissors
- A ruler
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the toilet paper rolls.
- Cut the toilet paper rolls in half.
Step 2: Cut the cardboard or thick paper.
- Cut a piece of cardboard or thick paper approximately 3 x 2 inches.
Step 3: Attach the cardboard or thick paper to one of the toilet paper rolls.
- Hot glue one of the toilet paper rolls to the center of the cardboard or thick paper.
Step 4: Attach the magnifying glasses.
- Hot glue the magnifying glasses to the front of the toilet paper rolls, centered on the cardboard or thick paper. Make sure the lenses are facing outward.
Step 5: Attach the other toilet paper roll.
- Hot glue the other toilet paper roll to the front of the cardboard or thick paper, so that it is aligned with the first toilet paper roll.
Step 6: Wrap the binoculars with duct tape.
- Wrap the binoculars with duct tape to reinforce them and make them look more finished.
Step 7: Enjoy your binoculars!
- Hold the binoculars up to your eyes and look through the magnifying glasses. You should be able to see objects magnified.
With your homemade binoculars, you can explore the world around you and see things up close! Remember, these are simple binoculars, so the image quality may not be as good as binoculars you would purchase in a store. However, they are still a great way to get a closer look at nature and have some fun.
