Choose the perfect location for your hammock. Obviously, the decision to hang it in the sun or shade is completely up to your preferences. The area should be cleared of trees, plants, rocks and other obstructions. The area you choose must be 1 foot longer than the length of the hammock.
Determine where you're going to install the wooden posts. Make an "X" on the exact spots. Use a post hole digger to dig holes 2 feet deep. Make the holes 2-1/2 feet deep if the soil is sandy and unstable.
Set the post in the first hole. Pour dry cement into the hole until it's completely filled. Pour a gallon of water onto the cement. Level the post. Repeat this step with the second post. Allow the cement to cure completely per the manufacturer's directions.
Determine where the screw hooks will be installed in each wooden post. How high or low you want the hammock to hang is your preference. However, each screw hook should be installed between 5 to 6 feet above the ground, on the side facing the hammock. Make an "X" at the center of each post at the desired height.
Drill a pilot hole that measures 3/16" into each post at the "X". Screw a hammock hook into each hole so it's upright and against the wood. Hang the end of a length of chain on each hook. Attach the end of an "S" hook to the other end of each chain. Attach the other end of each hook to the metal loops on the hammock to hang it up.
Adjust the length of the hammock by raising or lowering the position of the chain links on the post hooks. Avoid stretching the hammock too tightly. It will stretch when in use.
