How to Hang Up a Hammock Without Poles

Not all hammocks come with poles. Your hammock is sturdier and less likely to collapse if hung between two solid objects. Hammock poles can move around in wet ground, causing your hammock to droop or fall to the ground. Securing your hammock to an object held in place by solid foundations creates a space where you can relax with confidence.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify two solid points to suspend your hammock. Use trees, a fence post or even a concrete wall. The two points don't have to be close enough together to hang your hammock by its straps independently. A nylon rope extends your hammock's reach.

    • 2

Screw your hooks into the two solid objects you've identified high enough to suspend your hammock. If securing your hammock to a concrete wall, drill holes and insert rawl plugs before screwing in your hooks.

    • 3

Tie nylon rope to each of your hammock's straps if the two points you've chosen are too far apart to hang your hammock.

    • 4

Pull the nylon rope through the hooks, positioning your hammock. If your hammock's straps reach your hooks by themselves, tie them directly.

    • 5

Cut the nylon rope to size with a pair of scissors, and tie securely in place.

    • 6

Test your hammock by carefully sitting on it and gradually distributing your weight.
