How to Make a King Size Bedspread

## Materials

- Fabric: 12 yards of 54-inch wide fabric

- Lining: 12 yards of 54-inch wide muslin or cotton twill

- Batting: 10 yards of 90-inch wide cotton batting

- Thread

- Scissors

- Sewing machine

- Iron

- Measuring tape

- Pins

Instructions

1. Cut the fabric, lining, and batting into the following pieces:

- Top Fabric:

- Two pieces 108 inches x 120 inches

- Two pieces 18 inches x 112 inches

- Lining:

- Two pieces 108 inches x 120 inches

- Two pieces 18 inches x 112 inches

- Batting:

- Two pieces 108 inches x 120 inches

2. Sew the two large top fabric pieces together along one 120-inch side, right sides together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Press the seam open.

3. Sew the two large lining pieces together along one 120-inch side, right sides together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Press the seam open.

4. Sew one of the 18-inch x 112-inch top fabric pieces to each side of the large top fabric piece, right sides together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Press the seams open.

5. Sew one of the 18-inch x 112-inch lining pieces to each side of the large lining piece, right sides together, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Press the seams open.

6. Layer the batting, top fabric, and lining together, right sides together. Pin the layers together.

7. Sew around the entire perimeter of the bedspread, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 10-inch opening for turning.

8. Turn the bedspread right side out and press.

9. Close the opening by hand-stitching it closed.

10. Enjoy your new king size bedspread!

Tips

- To make the bedspread reversible, simply sew the top fabric and lining pieces together with right sides together instead of wrong sides together.

- You can add a decorative border to the bedspread by sewing a strip of contrasting fabric around the entire perimeter.

- To make the bedspread more plush, use a heavier weight batting.
