Measure the dimensions of your computer, monitor, computer keyboard, electronic keyboard, mouse pad, and speakers. If you wish to include extra equipment such as a mixing console, measure this as well.
Select a desk or table at least twice as wide as your electronic keyboard or mixing console. An old desk with a pull-out keyboard works well, but any wide table works.
Buy a 19-inch rack space with at least 5 spaces. This will provide space for your monitor and your gear rack.
Place your speakers on the desk with 2-inch-thick foam pads under them. This supports the speakers while putting them at a better listening height.
Place the rack case in the middle of the desk. Place your monitor on the rack, with your electronic keyboard or mixing console in front. If you choose to use both a keyboard and mixing console, place the keyboard to the side of the desk, or choose a desk with a slide-out drawer and place your keyboard there. Place your computer tower to the side of your desk.
Connect your gear to a power source using 1 or 2 surge-protected power strips. Make sure to use multiple electrical outlets if you need power for more than 4 or 5 pieces of gear. This will help you prevent power outages.
