How to Build Galvanized Canopy Beds

Instructions

    • 1

Cut galvanized aluminum pipe to the following dimensions with the hacksaw: 10 60-inch pieces, two 80-inch pieces, six 26 2/3-inch pieces, four 8-inch pieces and four 80-inch pieces. Smooth the edges of the pipe with sandpaper.

    • 2

Fit the aluminum pieces together to create the lower frame. The 60-inch pieces will be at the top and bottom, the three 26 2/3-inch pieces along either side, two 60-inch pieces across the top and bottom third of the rectangle, to add rigidity and allow the frame to support the box spring. The 60-inch pieces across the top and bottom third are installed using the third port in the T-socket. Assemble the pieces by inserting the end of a pipe into the socket and tightening a recessed set screw to push into the aluminum with a hex key.

The four elbow side outlets should be at the outer four corners of this rectangle; the remaining outlets should be up and down. Fit the 8-inch pieces into the bottom of the elbow side outlets then attach a base pieces to the end of the tube. Do this in the same way you made the rectangular frame, by tightening set screws into place.

Fit 60-inch uprights to into the remaining outlets in the elbows of the frame, again by putting in set screws. Add elbow side outlets on the tops of these uprights and put two 80-inch pieces across the 80-inch span of the canopy and two 60-inch pieces across the 60-inch span of the canopy.

Put a box spring on the lower portion of the aluminum frame and put a mattress on top of that. Arrange bedding to your liking.
