How to Start a Bonfire at the Beach

How to Start a Bonfire at the Beach

1. Check local fire regulations. Some beaches have restrictions on where and when you can build a bonfire. Make sure to check the regulations for the beach you'll be visiting before you start building your fire.

2. Gather your materials. You will need:

* Dry firewood (driftwood is a good option)

* A lighter or matches

* A shovel

* A bucket of water

* A first aid kit

3. Choose a location. Find a spot on the beach that is at least 10 feet away from any structures, vegetation, or other flammable materials. The fire should also be built in a sheltered area, away from the wind.

4. Build your fire. Start by building a small pile of kindling in the center of your fire ring. Then, add larger pieces of wood around the kindling. Leave some space between the pieces of wood so that the air can circulate.

5. Light your fire. Use a lighter or matches to light the kindling. Be careful not to use too much lighter fluid, as this can cause the fire to spread too quickly.

6. Tend your fire. Once your fire is lit, keep an eye on it and make sure that it does not get too big. If the fire starts to get too big, add more water to the bucket and throw it on the fire.

7. Extinguish your fire. When you are finished with your bonfire, extinguish it completely. Pour water on the fire until it is completely out. Stir the ashes with the shovel until they are cool.

8. Clean up. Pick up any trash or debris that was left behind from your bonfire. Leave the beach clean and tidy for the next visitors.
