What to Bring a Bonfire

* Firewood: Bring enough firewood to last the entire time you plan to be at the bonfire. Hardwoods, such as oak and maple, burn longer and hotter than softwoods, such as pine and spruce.

* Lighter fluid or matches: You will need a way to start the fire.

* Fire pit or ring: If you are not building your bonfire in a designated fire pit or ring, you will need to create a safe space for it. This can be done by clearing a patch of ground and surrounding it with rocks or bricks.

* Cooking supplies: If you plan on cooking food over the fire, you will need to bring the necessary cooking supplies, such as pots, pans, and utensils.

* Food and drinks: Bring food and drinks for yourself and your guests. S'mores are a popular bonfire snack, but you can also bring other foods, such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips.

* Chairs or blankets: You will need something to sit on around the fire.

* Flashlights or headlamps: It will be dark when you are at the bonfire, so bring flashlights or headlamps to light your way.

* First aid kit: In case of an emergency, bring a first aid kit with you.

* Insect repellent: If you are going to be in an area with a lot of insects, bring insect repellent to keep them away.
