- 1/4-inch thick tempered glass
- Four 1-inch thick wooden boards (such as pine or oak)
- Eight 1-inch wood screws
- Four metal brackets
- Four metal screws
Tools:
- Measuring tape
- Level
- Pencil

Instructions:
1. Measure the width of your fireplace opening and add 2 inches to the measurement. This will give you the length of your wooden boards.
2. Cut the wooden boards to the desired length.
3. Assemble the wooden boards into a frame using the wood screws. Be sure to pre-drill the holes for the screws to avoid splitting the wood.
4. Attach the metal brackets to the frame using the metal screws. Position the brackets so that they are evenly spaced and centered on the frame.
5. Place the tempered glass insert into the frame. Be sure to wear gloves when handling the glass to avoid fingerprints or smudges.
6. Secure the tempered glass insert by tightening the screws on the metal brackets.
Tips:
- Use a sealant around the edges of the tempered glass insert to prevent smoke from leaking out.
- If you have a gas fireplace, you may want to install a heat-resistant tempered glass insert instead.
- Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing the fireplace smoke guard.
Additional notes:
- A fireplace smoke guard can help to prevent smoke from entering your home and keep your fireplace area clean.
- It is important to have a fireplace smoke guard professionally installed to ensure that it is properly secured and safe to use.
