1. Shut off the power.
>Before you begin, make sure that the power to the gas fireplace is turned off. This can usually be done by flipping the circuit breaker to the "off" position.
2. Remove the old electric starter.
>The electric starter is usually located on the back of the fireplace. It is held in place by a few screws. Remove these screws and carefully pull the electric starter out of the fireplace.
3. Disconnect the wires.
>Once the electric starter is removed, you will need to disconnect the wires that are connected to it. There are usually two wires, a black wire and a white wire. Disconnect these wires by unscrewing the wire nuts that hold them in place.
4. Install the new electric starter.
>Now you can install the new electric starter. Position the new starter in the same place as the old starter and secure it with the screws that you removed earlier.
5. Reconnect the wires.
>Reconnect the wires that you disconnected from the old electric starter to the new starter. Be sure to connect the black wire to the black terminal and the white wire to the white terminal.
6. Turn on the power.
>Once you have reconnected the wires, you can turn the power back on to the gas fireplace. The fireplace should now be working properly.
