How to Line Up Bifold Doors

Over time, the hardware that keeps bifold doors aligned and working correctly can loosen. When bifold door hardware loosens, the doors drop and become misaligned. Misaligned doors are unsightly, difficult to close and often fall out of their installation brackets. Luckily, aligning bifold doors does not require purchasing and replacing hardware. A few minor adjustments, a little time and a few tools will have bifold doors realigned and operating correctly.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the bifold doors.

    • 2

Locate the top and bottom pins that hold the left door in place. Turn each pin counterclockwise with a Phillips screwdriver. Use the correctly sized screwdriver to ensure you do not damage the screw head. Repeat the process on the right door.

    • 3

Adjust the left side door until it sits even with the vertical side of the doorframe. Hold the door in place with one hand. Tighten each screw to lock the door in place. Repeat the process with the right bifold door.

    • 4

Close the doors. Check to ensure the seams between the doors are even and the top corners of the door are even with each other.

    • 5

Open the doors and readjust their alignment if the seams are uneven or the top corners of the door are not even. Adjust the doors as needed.
