* Flat-head screwdriver

* Tape measure

* Level

* String

* Wire cutters

* Pliers

* Utility knife

Materials

* Umbrella clothesline kit

* 2-inch drywall screws (4)

* 4-inch lag bolts (2)

* 2-inch carriage bolts (2)

* 2-inch washers (2)

* 1/4-inch eye bolts (2)

* 1/8-inch wire rope (50 feet)

* Wire rope clamps (8)

Instructions

1. Choose a location for the umbrella clothesline. The ideal location will be in a sunny, open area with good air circulation. The ground should be level and firm.

2. Mark the location of the holes. Use the tape measure and level to mark the locations of the four holes for the drywall screws. The holes should be in a square, with each side measuring 3 feet.

3. Drill the holes. Use the drill to drill the holes for the drywall screws.

4. Install the drywall screws. Insert the drywall screws into the holes and tighten them with the Phillips-head screwdriver.

5. Install the lag bolts. Use the flat-head screwdriver to insert the lag bolts into the four outside holes. Thread the washers and carriage bolts onto the lag bolts and tighten them with the pliers.

6. Install the eye bolts. Insert the eye bolts into the two remaining holes. Tighten them with the pliers.

7. Cut the wire rope to length. Measure the distance between the two eye bolts and add 2 feet. Cut the wire rope to this length.

8. Attach the wire rope to the eye bolts. Thread the wire rope through the eye bolts and clamp it in place with the wire rope clamps.

9. Install the umbrella. Insert the umbrella pole into the hole in the center of the base. Tighten the knob to secure the umbrella in place.

Tips

* If you are installing the umbrella clothesline on a concrete surface, you will need to use a hammer drill to drill the holes.

* Be sure to tighten all of the screws and bolts securely.

* If you live in an area with high winds, you may want to use a heavier wire rope.

* To protect the wire rope from rust, you can spray it with a clear sealant.
