Instructions:
1. Prepare the surface. The surface where you will be installing the bricks must be level and free of debris. If the surface is not level, you will need to level it using a concrete leveling compound.
2. Lay out the bricks. Use a string line to mark the locations of the bricks. Make sure that the bricks are evenly spaced and that the rows are straight.
3. Mix the mortar. Mix the mortar according to the manufacturer's instructions. The mortar should be stiff enough to hold the bricks in place, but not so stiff that it is difficult to work with.
4. Apply the mortar. Use a trowel to apply the mortar to the surface where you will be installing the bricks. The mortar should be applied in a thin layer.
5. Set the bricks. Place the bricks on the mortar and press them down firmly. Make sure that the bricks are level and that the rows are straight.
6. Tool the joints. Use a pointing tool to tool the joints between the bricks. This will help to create a smooth finish.
7. Allow the mortar to cure. Allow the mortar to cure for at least 24 hours before walking on the bricks.
Tips:
- When laying out the bricks, make sure to allow for a 1/8-inch gap between the bricks. This gap will allow for the mortar to expand and contract.
- If you are installing bricks in a humid environment, you may want to add a waterproof sealant to the mortar. This will help to prevent the mortar from cracking.
- Be sure to wear safety glasses and gloves when working with bricks and mortar.
