- 2 pieces of fabric, each 1 1/2" x 24"
- Matching thread
- Key ring
- Fray check or sealant
1. Cut two pieces of fabric. Each piece should measure 1 1/2" x 24".
2. Fold one piece of fabric in half lengthwise. Press.
3. Repeat with the second piece of fabric.
4. Sew one of the pieces of fabric to the other, right sides together. Sew across the short edge and down the long edge, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
5. Clip the corners and trim any excess fabric.
6. Turn the sewn pieces of fabric right side out. Use a point turner or other blunt object to help push out the corners.
7. Press the lanyard flat.
8. Sew across the top edge of the lanyard to secure. Sew a second line close to the first, about 1/4" away, for added strength.
9. Add fray check or sealant to the ends of the lanyard to prevent fraying.
10. Attach a key ring to the end of the lanyard.
Your lanyard is now complete and ready to use!
- Use a walking foot when sewing the pieces of fabric together. This will help to prevent the fabric from shifting.
- Use a tight zigzag stitch to sew the pieces of fabric together. This will help to prevent fraying.
- Add a bead or two to the end of the lanyard for decoration.
