Choose a location that receives full sunlight, such as a south-facing window. The calamondin requires at least four hours of sun per day. Rotate the plant by one quarter turn every week to keep it from leaning toward the sunlight.
Keep the calamondin in a pot that measures 6 inches in diameter until it reaches an age of 3 to 4 years and then transplant the calamondin to pot that measures 8 inches in diameter. Make sure that the pot has drainage holes in the bottom to allow water to flow out of the dirt or the calamondin may suffer from root rot.
Water the calamondin thoroughly when the top 1 inch of the soil dries out. Allow the water to flow freely through the pot's bottom holes. Do not allow the pot to sit in standing water. Place the pot on a saucer filled with moist pebbles to keep the humidity at a moderate level around the plant. The calamodin thrives in a humidity of 30 to 60 percent.
Maintain a room temperature of 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Fertilize the calamondin every two weeks using a general purpose water-soluble fertilizer. Follow the directions on the fertilizer for application.
Pollinate the calamondin's flowers by hand to ensure ample fruit production. Dip the tip of a paintbrush into each flower. Gently swirl the paintbrush tip around to collect the bloom's pollen and then dip the pollen-laden paintbrush into another flower to transfer it.
