# How to Grow Helichrysum Italicum
Helichrysum italicum is a striking perennial herb with silvery leaves and sunny yellow blooms that resemble those of lavender. It is more commonly known as curry plant. It is not, however, the source of curry spice even though the leaves have a curry smell. Helichrysum italicum requires little care and is often used in sunny rock gardens.

Fill seed trays or peat pots with potting soil, then plant one or two seeds in each cell or pot just beneath the soil. Keep the soil moist and place the trays or pots in a warm location to encourage germination. Helichrysum italicum seeds take one to three weeks to sprout.

Transplant the seedlings into the ground approximately three weeks after the last frost date in a sunny location. Space the plants 18 to 24 inches apart. Although the plant prefers dry, sandy soil, it will grow in virtually any soil type.

Water the plants infrequently. These plants require little water and it is not necessary to fertilize. For bigger blooms, you can remove all of the buds except for the ones at the end of each stem.
