How to Sew a Rose Pillow

## Gather your materials

* Fabric (1/2 yard of each fabric)

* Thread

* Sewing machine

* Scissors

* Pins

* Pinking shears (optional)

* Stuffing (polyester fill or batting)

Cut your fabric

* Cut two 12-inch squares of fabric.

* Cut one 10-inch square of fabric.

* Cut four 5-inch squares of fabric.

Sew the rose petals

1. Fold each 5-inch square of fabric in half twice.

2. Cut a curve along the folded edge, creating a petal shape.

3. Sew a gathering stitch along the curved edge of each petal.

4. Pull the gathering stitch to gather the petal.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 to make 16 petals.

Sew the flower center

1. Cut a 4-inch circle of fabric.

2. Fold the circle in half twice.

3. Sew a gathering stitch around the edge of the circle.

4. Pull the gathering stitch to gather the circle.

5. Stuff the flower center with batting.

6. Sew the flower center closed.

Sew the pillow

1. Place the two 12-inch squares of fabric right sides together.

2. Sew around the edges of the fabric, leaving a 4-inch opening.

3. Trim the corners of the fabric.

4. Turn the pillow right side out.

5. Stuff the pillow with batting.

6. Sew the opening closed.

7. Sew the flower center to the front of the pillow.

8. Sew the petals around the flower center, overlapping them slightly.
