What you’ll need:
- Long-stem roses (any variety)
- Flower shears
- Florist paper (tissue paper or cellophane)
- Floral tape
Instructions:
1. Prep the roses: Use flower shears to trim the rose stems at an angle, about 1 inch from the base of the flower. Remove any leaves from the bottom half of the stem.
2. Assemble your materials: Lay out the florist paper or cellophane flat on a table. For tissue paper, use two sheets and layer them perpendicularly to create a thicker wrap.
3. Arrange the roses: Place the roses in the center of the florist paper or cellophane, with the flower heads facing up. Spread them out evenly, giving enough space between each rose to allow for wrapping.
4. Wrap the paper: Gently lift up the edges of the paper or cellophane and bring them together over the roses. Hold them firmly in place with one hand while using the other hand to wrap floral tape around the stems, about 1 inch below the flower heads.
5. Secure the wrap: Wrap the floral tape around the stems several times, making sure it’s tight but not too tight as to damage the stems. Trim the excess tape with flower shears.
6. Create the collar: Fold the excess paper or cellophane at the top of the wrap down over the stems to create a collar. Use floral tape to secure the collar in place.
7. Fluff the roses: Gently fluff the petals of each rose with your fingers to give them a natural, full appearance.
And voila! You’ve successfully wrapped long-stem roses like a florist. Your beautiful roses are now ready to be displayed in a vase, given as a gift, or used to create a stunning floral arrangement. Happy wrapping!
